Islamabad High Court disqualifies Khwaja Asif as a member of Parliament
Islamabad: The  Islamabad High Court declared Foreign Minister Khwaja Asif as disqualified as a member of Parliament. This was done because they have  a work permit for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the report of the Pakistani media, "The court has announced its decision on the petition which states that Asif did not mention his working in the nomination paper abroad."

The Special Bench of three members did not consider Asif as 'honest' and 'true' under the Constitution. The bench said that they were not eligible to contest the general elections in 2013. According to the report of Geo News, "The disqualification petition filed by Osman Dar, leader of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, had contested against Asif from the NA-110 parliamentary constituency."

According to petition, "due to the unlimited period of Job Contract between International mechanical and electric company (Imco), a company of Asif and Abu Dhabi, they have the ability to become neither the National Assembly nor the Federal Minister." According to the petition, the Emco company appointed Asif as his full time employee on July 2, 2011. He has been on important positions such as legal advisor and special adviser.

Former PM Nawaz Sharif has also been appointed ineligible

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had termed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif disqualified from contesting elections for the rest of his life. That is, Sharif will not be able to handle any public posture throughout his life. This historic decision will prove to be the direction of the country's politics because Nawaz is the leader of his party PML-N. Since the verdict, Sharif is in London with his family.

Apart from Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Taran has also been disqualified for a lifetime. The Supreme Court of Pakistan and the High Court in the past have declared the country's leaders in a disciplined manner.
