Press Freedom Day: 57% increase in journalists' assassinations in 2018, three journalists killed in India
There have been murders of three journalists in India till April this year. The highest number of 11 murders took place in Afghanistan. Four in Mexico, four in Syria, four in Ecuador, three in Yemen and two from Brazil and Gaza, Guet Mala, Pakistan, two journalists have been killed.
Geneva: 44 journalists from 18 countries have been killed in 2018. This is the figure of the first four months of this year. Last year, 28 journalists were killed in the same time. These facts were released by the Geneva-based Press Ablish Campaign.
Press EnBelCampain has made these facts public while saying that on one hand the world is celebrating Press Freedom Day on May 3, while on the other hand the murders of journalists have increased dramatically. The institution has strongly condemned it. The following institution of this gross condemnation has cited 57% increase in the killings of journalists.
Press Abram Campaign further said, "This institution is shocked by the incident of nine journalists killed in Kabul's violence in Kabul." While condemning the incident, the institution has said that targeting the journalists present in the crowd is a detrimental act.
Let us tell you that a suicide bomber, who had fabricated a journalist (cameraman) in Afghanistan in Kabul, had himself carried away in the crowd, which killed more than half a dozen journalists. Among them was an AFP journalist involved.
