After the Korean War, a buffer zone was created between North Korea and South Korea under the supervision of the United Nations. This is called demilitarized zone.

In this zone two countries can not deploy their armies or soldiers, 250 kilometers long and about four (04) kilometers wide. This whole area belongs to the United Nations. Even a city village or a township can not be built in this entire area. There are only a few soldiers left without arms. Nearly 10 lakh soldiers are always deployed on either side of the 250-km border.
