In pictures: 58 people killed in serial bomb blast in Afghanistan

At least 58 people were killed and 117 injured in a double bomb blast in Afghanistan. According to the news agency Xinhua, the first blast took place at around 10 am in the morning when a suicide bomber blew himself up among people engaged in the line for a registration related to the election in Kabul.

About two hours after the incident, 10 people were killed and five others were injured in a bomb blast near a Voter Registration Center in Baghlan province. All the deceased were of the same family. According to the tollo news, health officials said that the family was going to the registration center in the bridge-e-Khumri city, then there was a blast in the IED.

The dead include women and children, while many in the injured are in critical condition. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) has taken responsibility for the Kabul attack. The police said that there were Taliban bomb blasts in Baghlan.

For the parliamentary and district council elections in Afghanistan, the date of October 20 has been fixed. Process of voter registration starts from April 14. Since the start of the voter registration, two policemen have been killed so far and five people including three election officials have been abducted.

In addition to the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan's United Nations Mission, the governments of India and Iran have strongly condemned the two attacks.
