Delhi government calls tender for 1,000 buses under cluster scheme
A government official said today that the Transport Department has invited compativant tender to include 1000 additional buses in four clusters.
New Delhi: The Delhi Government has started the process of incorporating 1000 buses under the cluster scheme to improve public transport. A government official said today that the Transport Department has invited compativant tender to include 1000 additional buses in four clusters.
Under the cluster scheme, 1,648 buses are already being operated by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS). DIMTS is a joint venture of Delhi Government and IDFC Foundation.
The official said that the government has authorized DIMTS to manage the tender process of selection of private operators for four projects.
In addition to the cluster plan, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) operates about 3,900 buses in the city. The Delhi government is also purchasing 2,000 standard floor buses to improve public transport.
